If you have some low spoke count wheels go take a look at them right now. Specifically look for cracking around each one of the spoke holes. If so you’ll be one of my most popular types of customers.The lower the spoke count the more spoke tension is needed to stabilize the wheel. If the spoke bed of the rim isn’t beefed up enough the spokes pull through and crack the rim. More spoke tension also means stronger, heavier brass nipples are needed. If the rim isn’t cracked already you’ve been lucky so far but know that you’ve been carrying around extra weight at the outside of the rotating mass to support the higher spoke tension.
